One year ago today, I went in for open heart surgery and officially became part of “the zipper club.” In one operation, doctors repaired a bicuspid aortic valve, an aortic aneurysm, and a blocked LAD. It was one of the toughest challenges of my life, both physically and mentally. But after 365 days, I can honestly say I feel better than ever, and I’m back to doing all the things I love most. That’s something I’ll never take for granted. I wouldn’t be here without an incredible group of people and organizations, so I want to thank you all! A huge thanks to: ❤️ Life Guard Imaging for detecting what I never knew was there and ultimately saving my life ❤️@MSE and @Capitals for the unwavering support and giving me the time I needed to fully recover ❤️MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Dr. MacGillivray, and the entire nursing staff for providing truly exceptional care ❤️My MSN broadcast team for being there for me throughout the entire journey ❤️Caps fans for their constant encouragement meant more than you’ll ever know! ❤️and of course… my family all the love and support for being there every step of the way, If there’s one thing this past year has reinforced, it’s this: get your heart checked.
