#OTD May 1, 1854 at sunset, the fixed light at @LoopHeadLH went on for the first time. The 23 m. tower was designed by George Halpin Sr (died July 1854). By 1869, light went from fixed to flashing & in 1912 to 4 flashes every 20 seconds. Lighthouse converted to electric in 1971.
