" One of the most important things you can do on this earth is to let people know they are not alone. " This evening, as a proud local councillor from Luton, I had the honor of standing alongside 10 phenomenal champions, Sufian Sadiq, Bilal Hussain, Zeeshan Khan, Tariq Mohammed, Attiq Malik, Kamrul Haque, Jafer Raza, & Sekanda Nasar, as they embraced the Luton Foodbank's Ramadan 24 Hour Challenge. This bold campaign dares each of them to step into the shoes of those grappling with food insecurity & homelessness. These brave individuals have taken on the daunting challenge of sleeping rough while fasting & tackling demanding tasks to spotlight the stark realities of homelessness. By breaking their fast with only a single day food parcel from the Luton Food Bank, they confront firsthand the struggles faced by so many in our community. Their resolute commitment exemplifies the very essence of what it means to be a Lutonian, resilient, empathetic, & steadfast in our support for one another. Their actions are a powerful testament to the strength & unity that shape our town. Raising awareness about homelessness, food insecurity, & the escalating cost of living isn’t merely important, it’s imperative. Too many in our community are facing daily hardships. Their challenge is a stirring call to action for all of us to stand in solidarity & work together towards a future where no one must endure such suffering.
