🎨 I'm applying for the Pokémon Crew Program!
I’d love for you to see my artwork and support my journey
Please RT and spread the word to help me reach more Pokémon fans! ✨
↓Here, I’ve written about how long I’ve been a fan of Pokémon.
I'm just an ordinary person, and this account isn't famous at all, but I'm going to give it a try!
The pictures are an illustration I drew when I was a kid and what I think is the oldest stuffed animal I still have!
As far as I can remember, I started liking Pokémon when I was around 4 years old. It all started with a picture book—one with really striking pastel colors.
From there, I read a picture book based on the Celebi movie, and my mom recorded the anime series for me, which is when I really fell in love with it.
Back then, I didn’t know Pokémon was a “weekly anime series,” so I mostly bought merchandise and copied the illustrations.
I started watching properly from the Advanced Generation series. That’s why Haruka is my favorite heroine!
Especially when I was 10, I drew pictures every day and took them to school. My homeroom teacher would praise me and even display them on the classroom wall. It’s a really fond memory.
When I was 11, I bought my first game: Pokémon Platinum!
I chose Naetle (Turtwig), but Gardenia was so strong... and just when I thought I’d finally beaten her, my parents turned off the game because I stayed up too late! (It was totally my fault for losing track of time, haha).
I also have a fond memory of how my whole team once got wiped out by a Luxray during the final Gym Leader battle.
My next game, HeartGold, was amazing. I never imagined I could travel through two regions in a single game!
Also, I really loved how your Pokémon would walk right behind you outside of battle. That’s so cute, isn’t it?
A few years later, the 3.11 earthquake struck Japan.
I live in the Kanto region of Japan, so luckily I didn’t suffer major damage, but my house was affected and we had power outages.
Pokémon supported me through that tough time, too.
Since it was dangerous, my relatives gathered at my house, and I played wireless battles with my cousin there.
I can still vividly recall the fear of the earthquake, but I also remember my cousin’s Porygon-Z wiping out my entire team as if it were yesterday.
But thanks to that, it didn’t become just a painful memory. It was quite a shock to have my party of Legendary Pokémon wiped out by a single Porygon-Z, though!
That’s how Pokémon became an indispensable part of my life.
And oh my goodness, BUMP OF CHICKEN’S “Acacia” music video was absolutely mind-blowing!!!!!!
I’ve been a fan of that band for 10 years.
So when they announced a Pokémon collaboration, I was already thrilled—but I never expected such a masterpiece of an animated MV directed by my favorite director (Rie Matsumoto)!!!!!
I couldn’t stop crying. Seeing all the past protagonists, villains, Gym Leaders, and Champions... I felt like my own childhood memories had been animated.
I’m still hoping we’ll get a game featuring those two boys one day.
Thanks so much for reading my long story!!
It was memories like these that made me decide to apply for this program.
So, if you don’t mind, could you let me know your favorite Pokémon in the comments?
I’d love to pick some of your favorite Pokémon and draw them as a thank-you! (It might take me a little while, but I'll do my best!)
Please show your support and follow me!
Have a great weekend!
