No, but the wheel is like an electric motor. Need to time the magnetic impulses so the magnets are constantly pushing against one another to spin the wheel. Permanent magnets alone wont do it.

I love this my Dad loves Magnets he has some of the most powerful ones attached to his computer. Since he did a computer business for 37 years the old rumor was that magnets would destroy your computer if you got it too close well he blew away that notion.
He gave the kids magnets to play with and he continues to give the kids stuff that he thinks they would enjoy or we can use for the Apocalypse because you never know it can happen right now if you are not ready be ready lol
He also shows his Medals he got from being a Vietnam Vet so much respect to this Guy thanks for helping me raise my three kids they love you so much
