ALT The rugged rock faced blonde sandstone on this Edwardian tenement chimney is in an aged and weathered condition. The chimney also badly needs repointed with large gaps between the stones. With one stone removed the flues inside are revealed. There are loose slates on the roof to the side. A construction worker wearing orange safety gear is slaistering a new line coating over the stonework which will help buy the chimney some time before it needs completely rebuilt in stone.
ALT As one of the chimneyโs blond sandstone stones is loose it has been removed thus revealing the brick bridges between the flues within the chimney. The interior faces of the stonework can also be eroded by acidic particulate from coal smoke.
