#SOFWeek this year was a perfect example - I reckon 70 percent of exhibitors didn’t exist before SDR/MANET radios. @RoyalMarines have grasped the mettle courtesy of MarWorks but Army continues to be risk averse.

suggest we also need an open minded ‘champion’ for different work streams - someone who will ‘get amongst’ industry and the military. said it before that Navy have done it well with MarWorks, Army is at the start of it with BattleLab but that is early days and tech focussed

End of a great week #MarWorks have been working with our colleagues in #NavyX and installed EVE on MADFOX in preparation for AAF4.0. A Royal Navy first, this will enable increased SA as part of FCF & NSN experimentation around Autonomy C2 and the comms required for it 👍

Another first was the trialling of an Inertial Visual Navigation System working with industry on technical solutions to provide PNT in a GPS denied environment. #MarWorks

RN have 3 steams now to explore innovation - NavyX, Nelson and Marworks. They have a good idea of where they want to be and the RN OCTO is being given 1% of RN budget to help them get there. I more confident now that RN has a plan and a way to achieve it 👍🏼

A new helmet-mounted camera system, capable of sending live footage from the frontline, could be used by the Royal Marines.👀 We joined the Royal Navy's innovation team, MarWorks, earlier this year to find out more about the technology.
