It was also numbered retrospectively - it didnโt become the M60 until all the road already existed and the final section was about to be opened. All itโs signs and markerposts were reworked to suit its completion in about 1998.

Gone a little bit retro today and put back in marker posts on 1st and 2nd fairways , we will see how these are received and if favourable and they don't get vandalised we will put them on other blind holes too #golf #golfer #markerposts #sport #retro

datum & the markerposts came from that. Or where the same designer dud several sections, such as on the A1, they used chainages already allocated from previous schemes.

We received a call from a member of public reporting a medical emergency. Driver was unable to find any markerposts or SOS phones nearby. Our calltaker used @what3words to find their location, arranged help & stayed on the phone assistance arrived. ow.ly/pmS050w8xdy

So doing some training with our control firefighter in development about the M4 and markerposts......cue 30 calls to a car fire on the M4!
This afternoons training on airports and trains is cancelled.

Great advice from our motorway officer as always !!
Marker posts enable @WYP_CCC to tell us exactly where you are.
Meaning we can give our officers your exact location straight away and alert highways who can set correct signs to assist.

Some advice on marker posts and boards if you breakdown or are involved in an incident and you don't know which junction you have passed. Remember A carriageway, junction numbers and marker post numbers increase. B carriageway.. junction numbers and marker post numbers decrease.
