As a pharmacist in the Teaching Hospital, patients often ask me “What is this med for?” Here’s a simple list of frequently prescribed medicines and their primary uses:
1. Paracetamol → Pain relief & Fever reduction
2. Amoxicillin → Bacterial infections
3. Omeprazole → Acid reflux, Heartburn & Ulcers
4. Loratadine → Allergies & Hay fever
5. Amlodipine → High blood pressure (Hypertension)
6. Metformin → Type 2 Diabetes
7. Diazepam → Anxiety, Muscle spasms & Insomnia (short-term)
8. Atorvastatin → High cholesterol
9. Ciprofloxacin → Urinary tract & other bacterial infections
