"DOM aka small dev."
I have a small, long story, and even though Twitter's algorithms will barely show it to anyone, itβs enough for me that the tagged people will see it. Besides, I just want to leave it here...
This isnβt about the artistic side - itβs about the part that makes Web3 artists degens. Maybe not everyone will find it interesting, and maybe some donβt need to hear it at all. But this is who I am - I couldnβt do it any other way. And as a result, it brought me new knowledge and perhaps a certain level of respect from collectors, though many probably have no idea what it cost me xD
It's important to mention
@iamwinterland, the person who first said to me: "The only issue i'm facing is all the pcs i've collected on exchange doesn't show up in my oncyber gallery"
Thatβs where it all started.
My first NFTs were minted using the
@exchgART marketplace, where I sold them through auctions or editions. I also sent airdrops to my holders from there.
However, I later discovered that at the time, all NFTs minted this way werenβt part of any verified Metaplex-standard collection. I found this out when I was unable to list my art on
@MagicEden. So, I went to the
@metaplex's discord, where I found the right links to verify all my created NFTs according to the required standard.
Iβll mention the mistakes I made at the beginning later, but here, for a while, I thought I had made my first and most critical one...
After taking a snapshot of my wallet and finding all the minted NFTs, I added them all into a single collection at once - TriangleCircleSquare (without much thought, just using my nickname as the collection name where all my art would go).
Yes, it worked. Later, I was able to list my art, and WinterLand successfully added it to his online gallery without any issues.
But then I started digging deeper...
As I continued minting art - across different categories - it wasnβt that important that everything was in the same collection on MagicEden. In my wallet, it still appeared in separate tabs. I had art related to the lore of my Valley of Tea Dragons, the Tree Garden Event, and my other pixel Journey. But since I started mixing them under different verified collections, my wallet ended up displaying them in five different folders, and some art didnβt match the right categories -_-
This is where my friend
@ChaseR1ght helped me (I already made a post about this last year):
I prepared three properly created collections, along with three hash lists categorizing all my NFTs correctly. Then, with his help and Metaboss, we updated the metadata over 1000 nfts at once - finally, my art displayed properly in the wallet!
Still, another issue remained. On marketplaces like
@tensor_hq and
@MagicEden, some of my art was still categorized as non-certified. Hardly anyone buys 1/1 art or editions from an artist unless itβs through
@mallowdotart or
@exchgART, but it was really important to me that my art wasnβt flagged as a potential risk or scam. β οΈ
On top of that, after my previous MagicEden listing, some of the art was still in one big pile...
Eventually, I ran into yet another issue - at some point, I stopped seeing some of my art in
@phantom wallet, which finally broke me. So, I went back to certify all my art under the right categories. The process with MagicEden was a bit slow, but their team helped - they removed my previous listing and updated the three correct collections. (This still hasnβt solved the Phantom wallet display issue)
But another major mistake I made from the very beginning also became clear - I didnβt pay enough attention to traits and categories during minting. Looking at it now, I see that I could have structured them better to ensure they were correctly displayed inside each collection on secondary marketplaces.
All of this knowledge and experience helped me a lot when launching my generative collection Home Travelers. Now, I easily update metadata, understand how marketplaces work from the inside, and know where to go for support.
No final verdict here... I still need to update the metadata for all my art so that the traits are properly categorized. And, as I said, I need to figure out why my art isnβt showing in Phantom...
Now if you mint on ExchangeArt you will not have problems with the lack of a certified collection, and it will also be possible for it to be automatically available for claim and the quick listing process on MagicEden, but I love my way and if you're a perfectionist like me, I wish you good luck and an easy life haha.
