Last semester, I taught Reinforcement Learning class again at UCLA. Together with my amazing TAs Matthew and Caiyuan, we built a mini-project: MetaDrive Arena 🚗🤖 Students applied what they learned in class, trained RL agents, and competed on a live leaderboard. The results were incredible, with 94 agents, 2K submissions, and 130K matches. We saw tons of creativity, clever ideas, and real progress in learning. 【強化学習エージェント設計を完全自動化する新フレームワーク】 自然言語で書いたタスク記述と環境コードを入力すると、高性能な強化学習（RL）エージェントを自動生成する「Agent²」を著者らが発表した。RL開発の流れをMDP（マルコフ決定過程）の定式化（問題を数学的に書き下すこと）とアルゴリズム最適化に分け、LLMが設計から実装までを自動で進める仕組み。結果に基づいて設計を更新し、設計→実装→評価→改良を繰り返す流れを内包する。 設計側のGenerator Agentと、生成されるTarget Agentのデュアル体制を採用。MCP（Model Context Protocol）に基づく統一インターフェースで多様な環境・アルゴリズムに跨るエージェント作成を標準化した。MuJoCoやMetaDrive、MPE、SMACの各ベンチで手動設計を一貫して上回り、最大55%の性能向上を報告。AutoML（自動機械学習）のRL版として、タスク記述から構築・最適化までの工程を自動化することを狙う。

Why it matters Saves a ton of manual trial-and-error. Lowers the barrier for devs who aren’t RL experts. Produces agents that actually outperform strong baselines: > Ant-v4 (TD3): 55% reward (3853 → 5981). > Humanoid-v4 (SAC): 45% (4682 → 6788). > MetaDrive (SAC): 46% (178 → 260). > SMAC 8m win rate: 0.77 → 0.94.
