this is worth elaborating on in a lot more detail. eg IFS is not "true," it's not a neutral scientific description of an underlying objective psychological reality; IFS is a school of magic. you choose to build a specific interface to your psyche through engaging with it
that specific interface will be good for some things and not for others, it will make some things easier to access and other things harder to access. focusing your time and energy on it will strengthen that specific interface. you could at a later point decide you don't want or need this interface and then you'll need to put some work into deconstructing it. and then you might choose to build a completely different interface!
this is what one might call "metapsychology," it's related to an old project i never got any momentum on i wanted to call "metatherapy." the question is how to reconcile and work with all of these different ideas and schools of thought and techniques for working with... see, even picking a specific name here implies a specific frame, the meaning of this sentence changes if i end it with "the psyche" vs. "the mind" vs. "the bodymind" vs. "psychology" vs. "trauma" vs. "samskaras" vs. etc. etc. etc. i still have no idea how to talk about this!
probably the most important fact about psychology is that theories of psychology are self-fulfilling prophecies. believing them makes them more true for you. it matters whether you focus your time and energy on a theory of psychology that empowers you or disempowers you
