Yesterday, I was in Ada, Osun State, to represent my principal, His Excellency @LuckyAiyedatiwa, at the funeral programme for Prince Michael Ayantunde Ponnle, an illustrious son of Osun State, one of Nigeria's finest businessmen, and a great philanthropist. Prince Ponnle stood tall among the pioneers of indigenous enterprise in Nigeria, particularly through the establishment of MicCom Cables and Wires, one of the earliest indigenous cable manufacturing companies in the country. Beyond business, Prince Ponnle was a passionate believer in community growth and human capacity development. His establishment of the MicCom Golf and Country Club and Resort in Ada not only placed the town on the tourism map but also created opportunities that strengthened the local economy. Our heartfelt condolences go to his darling wife, our dear sister and former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Her Excellency Mrs Titilayo Laoye-Tomori Ponnle; the entire Ponnle family; and the good people of Ada and Osun State, as we pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Thankfully no one was injured. The car had scratches. We ended up not going to MICCOM golf that day. And to think the reason why we left Ilesa that day was because Zenababs won’t allow us use their swimming pool. I miss my boys, we really had so much fun together.

2005 we were going to MICCOM Golf, L was driving. Y was in the car and D too. We were stopped at a police check point around Idominasi and L’s mum friend saw us and told the police to send us back to Ilesa. We decided to chill small till she had left so we can continue with our

Earlier today, I was privileged to attend the funeral and thanksgiving service of the late Prince Micheal Ayankunle Ponle (FNSE), held in his hometown of Ada, Osun State. He was a man whose life exemplified unwavering devotion to God and an abiding commitment to the service of humanity. The gathering was a solemn yet dignified occasion, reflecting the magnitude of the loss to Osun State. We paid our final respects to a distinguished figure whose legacy transcended boundaries, impacting the spheres of enterprise, faith, community advancement, and humanitarian service. In founding MicCom Golf Hotel and Resort, Ada, he demonstrated rare foresight and leadership, contributing significantly to the socio-economic growth of his community and leaving an indelible mark on its development. The message delivered by the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, alongside tributes recounting the late Prince Ponle’s exemplary life and contributions, both within the Baptist community and across the wider Christian faith, resonated deeply. It called on all present to reflect on the values of purposeful living, selfless service, and the pursuit of a legacy that endures. _____ AOE
