My hot take, before mp3 took over, there was a hot moment when minidisc and dat recorders enable high fidelity audio, which was converted to mp3…. Which was then transmitted through early torrent networks.
For example, Dave Mathew’s Band allowed 3rd party recordings

I absolutely adored my minidisc walkman. I didn't even feel a need to buy an iPod until the motor in it died around 2006.

I can beat that. Took the kids to Beamish in 2019. In the “modern stuff” part of the museum they had Minidisc. Before we set off I had been using the exact same Sony unit shown in the museum

Called a MiniDisc 💽 in your front shirt pocket 👔 it’s magnetic mirror and interferes with your hearts biofield

This is such a good idea. I have been going through my Minidisc mixes. Took out the old portable CD also. Still works. I never had a lot of CDs though
