Love this! I've been using 6600m based miniPCs for three years and the potential is what roped me into this local AI space.
I suspect surplus 6600m chips were meant for a console and, eventually, made it into Shenzhen miniPCs (and who knows what.) cf.
End-to-end open conversational AI would let far more people own and control their own tech. (Commodity Off The Shelf hardware / Free and Open Source Software / Free Knowledge models.) ♥️
MINISFORUM HX80G ($712 at Amazon) is a great hardware "target." Still a ways to go.
Listen the hardware already isn't that impressive.
You can already buy far more impressive miniPCs that probably run better.
They wait even more this hard becomes pointless.
They wanted to release it months ago but due to ram shortages they couldn't.
The real non shortage price for the device would be sitting at around 550€.
Instead now it will probably release for way more. (1000 )
Me this morning sipping coffee talking to my wife. “Honey. To take my AI efforts to the level I need to be at I need a few things.” Her “um okay what are they.” Me “I need a few more high end MiniPCs, an AI capable laptop, and central storage. Oh and I need to double my online AI subscription.” Her… laughs and walks away 😜😜😂😂 After my California trip next week I really need to sell my boat 🛥️
I have two separate teams of AI running on two MiniPCs. On top is the @Hi_MINISFORUM@AMDRyzen 7 unit with 32 gb ram and a 512 gb ssd. Running Windows 11 and attached to Microsoft 365/Azure it has 1 @openclaw AI and 1 @NousResearch Hermes AI. Underneath it is my @gmktecdotcom MiniPC with an @AIatAMD Ryzen 9 AI 395 chipset with 96gb ram and 1 tb ssd. This unit is running Ubuntu Linux attached to Google Workspace and has 3 Hermes and 4 OpenClaw AI. I want to beef up the AI for my Microsoft environment but I need a beefier rig to add to that. I’d really like to set up several full teams attached to @Azure and @microsoft 365 but going to need some beefier hardware for that. For now though things are progressing nicely 👍

You realize the reason we instantaneously use the internet, rather than 15sec link interludes w every single item is because the heavy lifting is done by cloud computing.Thats why we have ultra efficient phones/miniPCs that utilize negligible power but function as supercomputers.
Okay so my $500 for 25 years at work came in and I won’t be able to buy an Autonomous AI ready laptop. I had been hoping to buy a @Beelinkofficial MiniPC to run AI on but looks like price wise that isn’t going to be anywhere near the ballpark. Anyone know of any MiniPCs in the 5500-600ish range that are decent enough to run a few agents on? Or have prices kicked up too much?
Looking for high performance in a compact form factor?

Minipcs make more sense now. I have a few Intel N100/N150 minipcs, 8gb or 16gb RAM, 512GB nvme drive, 2.5gbe, upgradeable drive/ram, a few USB3.2 ports, HDMI, they cost me ~$160, but admittedly last year before the RAM/SSD pricing apocalypse.
El lunes concluyen OCHO sorteos!! estáis a tiempo de participar! los tenéis todos resumidos aquí

Harry finished off all the Seneca content for the Wisdom Forge knowledge base last night but it looks like I’m going to need to put a pause on their activities for the next 13 hours. Pushing 3 agents hard burns up usage. Think it’s time to put the boat up for sale to raise some capital so I can up my @ollama plan from Pro to Max. Maybe buy a couple of @Beelinkofficial MiniPCs as well depending on much money Mrs G lets me keep from selling it.
IMHO I tried local models and.... it sucked. I know people want to hear its magical and you can do everything the big cloud models can but the truth is you cant. If you are really looking to build and push AI you are using the cloud... unless you have gobs of $$ for crazy hardware setups. My MiniPC running my OpenClaw instance is overkill. In hindsight I could have purchased 3-4 mid range MiniPCs for the price of my one and been much better off. I am helping a friend locally set up and that is what I am having him do. It makes me wish I could do over as I really need another 2 MiniPCs but live and learn.
