Happy New Year from #ModelTransfer!
In 2025, we’re looking forward to:
🤝 Collaborating with amazing people
🎓 Welcoming new team members
📄 Publishing new papers (some already accepted!)
📚 Continuing our Digital Methods Reading Group
We wrapped up the year at Hannover’s Christmas market✨🎄
2024 was crucial for advancing the methodological and conceptual basis of our research. In 2025, we’ll build on this progress, share findings & welcome new team members. Stay tuned!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended #ModelTransfer team member Edoardo Peruzzi's talk at the @PhilSciAssoc 2024 session on Math Explanations! The talk was entitled "Formal template accumulation and scientific progress: The case of Bayesian games."

This week, members of the #ModelTransfer team will be presenting their research in the United States! On November 1, @cherfeld and @Bakeeff will discuss their work at events hosted by @CenterEconomy at @DukeU. More info👇
Our workshop continued with thought-provoking talks by Emilia Margoni and @Bakeeff! We'll be back from break soon with a new session on challenges to #ModelTransfer.
Same here ... looking forward to our brainstorm workshop tomorrow discussing cases, arguments, ideas abt. model transfer in econ., physics, AI, medicine, among other fields; wonderfully organized by or own @EdoardoPeruzzi1 (@ERC_Research; #modeltransfer; @iphilLUH)
Yesterday our PI @cherfeld and our team member @Bakeeff gave their talks at the German Congress for Philosophy in Münster! Catherine discussed challenges to #ModelTransfer that may hamper the contribution of transfer to scientific progress and even lead to epistemic harm.
On October 11, we will host an online workshop "Researching Model Transfer: Brainstorming Cases, Arguments, and Research Questions" to discuss and refine our preliminary ideas related to #ModelTransfer! Speakers will include ERC project participants and international scholars.
💥#JOB: Again we expand our team: come to @iphilLUH for a postdoc in (emp.) Phil of Science/Phil of Modeling/&HPS/@SocPhilSciPract to research exciting cases of model transfer, scientific progress, and other things related. Deadl. Sept. 26; #ERCStGr@ERC_Research#ModelTransfer
The ERC-funded MODEL TRANSFER will provide a comprehensive philosophical investigation of the phenomenon of #ModelTransfer, its challenges, and its implications for scientific progress by combining approaches from philosophy and the history of science with computational methods.
This November the #ModelTransfer team is heading to the #PSA2024 conference in New Orleans! We will present our ongoing research: Professor Catherine Herfeld (@cherfeld) will present a poster titled “Challenges to Model Transfer in Science” (1/2)
