11 Years of Modi Rule: India’s Undeclared Emergency
On June 25, 1975, India witnessed the Emergency.
Exactly 50 years later, we are witnessing a more dangerous version: an undeclared Emergency that has lasted 11 years, silently choking the soul of the Republic.
Modi's government didn’t need to formally declare an Emergency. They institutionalised it.
Here’s how 👇
---
1. Jail the Opposition, Silence Dissent
Opposition leaders are jailed not by court orders, but by political design.
From Hemant Soren to Manish Sisodia — arrests are routine, trials are delayed, and bail becomes punishment.
If you question power, you’re branded anti-national.
---
2. Media: From Watchdog to Lapdog
Free press is replaced by government propaganda.
– NDTV was taken over
– BBC, Dainik Bhaskar were raided
– ₹1,000 crore spent annually on pro-government ads
India now ranks 159 out of 180 in global press freedom.
---
3. Weaponising Central Agencies
CBI, ED, Income Tax — no longer neutral.
– 95% of ED cases target Opposition
– Conviction rate <1%
– Join BJP = all cases disappear
Institutions of accountability have become tools of political revenge.
---
4. Parliament Has Become a Dictatorship Theatre
– 146 MPs were suspended in a single session — a world record
– Laws passed in 5 minutes, without debate
– Budget sessions conducted without opposition
Democracy without discussion is authoritarianism in disguise.
---
5. Judiciary Under Shadow of Executive
– Judges transferred for ruling against the govt
– Post-retirement jobs handed to “friendly” judges
– Collegium recommendations ignored
The independence of the judiciary is under constant siege.
---
6. Electoral System Hijacked
– ₹8,000 crore in secret Electoral Bonds exposed
– Election Commission schedules elections favorably for BJP
– Campaign rules apply only to Opposition
Elections remain — fairness does not.
---
7. Federalism Dismantled
– GST dues delayed
– Opposition states denied funds
– Governors act as BJP gatekeepers
A Union of States has been reduced to a one-man command centre.
---
8. Freedom of Expression = National Threat
– RTI is diluted
– Activists jailed under UAPA
– Social media surveilled & censored
Criticism of Modi is equated with betrayal of the nation.
This is not leadership. This is insecurity weaponised.
---
9. Crony Capitalism at Full Speed
Ports, airports, coal, cement — handed to Adani & a few others.
Business and politics are now one closed club.
Oppose them, and your business is finished.
This is not a free market — it’s state-backed monopoly.
---
10. Hate as Policy, Not Accident
– Protestors labelled “Khalistani” or “Tukde Tukde”
– Dalits, minorities, and dissenters face daily hate
– Godse is worshipped, Gandhi is attacked
This isn’t fringe anymore. It’s mainstream power.
Conclusion:
This is not democracy. This is control with the illusion of consent.
India may not be under an officially declared Emergency — but make no mistake:
The Constitution is being bypassed. The Republic is being hollowed.
And the people are being gaslit into believing this is normal.
If 1975 was a warning, 2025 is the repetition.
