After spending over a week in space, NASA’s Artemis II is now preparing for one of the most intense phases of the mission—re-entry.
In just 13 minutes, the Orion spacecraft will plunge from 121 km above Earth, facing temperatures of nearly 2,700°C—hot enough to melt steel. For a few critical minutes, communication will completely black out as the spacecraft becomes a blazing fireball.
With parachutes deploying at the final stage, Orion will slow down before splashing into the Pacific Ocean, where recovery teams await.
This short descent is the ultimate test of science, engineering, and human endurance.
Wishing all the astronauts a safe return to Earth!
