About 30 aspiring entrepreneurs and cooperative members from across Durban have gained the skills and confidence to turn everyday cleaning products into sustainable business opportunities through a two-week Detergent Manufacturing Training Programme, supported by the eThekwini Municipality and Networx for Career Development. The training is held in New Germany, from 1 to 12 June.
Participants received training in financial management, cashflow, budgeting, marketing, pricing and sales, as well as hands-on experience manufacturing cleaning products such as bleach, pine gel and dishwashing liquid. To support their start-up efforts, participants will receive the products they manufactured, equipment including weighing scales and mixers, and a monthly stipend for three months.
