The Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Nagaland, Shri Temjen Imna Along, inaugurated the newly constructed Science Block and Arts Academic Block at Pfutsero Government College, Phek district, on 4th June 2026, under the State Plan, marking a significant milestone in the institution's development. The programme was graced by Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA, Pfutsero Assembly Constituency, Officials from the Higher Education Department, NPWD (Education Division), faculty members, students, and members of the local community. A detailed technical report on the project was presented by the Department of NPWD (Housing), highlighting the planning, execution, and technical standards followed during construction. These academic facilities strengthen the educational ecosystem of the region by improving infrastructure and learning spaces, enabling academic growth and innovation. The initiative reflects the Government's continued commitment to enhancing higher education and empowering students and scholars in Nagaland. Convened a meeting at Capital Convention Centre today to discuss upgrading and constructing Foothill Road to National Highway and the implications of adopting the NH Act, 1956. Representatives of 16 tribal bodies, Hon’ble Elected Members, DCs, and NPWD officials participated. While the Centre has expressed willingness to construct and maintain the road, the requirement of 30m RoW free of cost was viewed as not feasible. A 15m RoW has been proposed, subject to consultations with affected villages within 15 days. Concerns were also raised regarding adoption of the NH Act vis-à-vis Article 371(A). The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to continue consultations and move forward in the larger interest of the State’s development.

Conducted the review meeting of all ongoing projects under @nhidcl and NPWD (NH). All contractors and authority engineers for projects have been instructed to immediately switch to a war footing mode of execution and capitalize on our State’s limited working season. The next 4-5 months are critical and must be utilized to the maximum. Teams must work double-time to expedite all construction activities. The focus is on achieving maximum physical progress during this period and to ensure that all projects meet their respective contractual milestones on or ahead of schedule.

Along with the Chief Engineer and officers from NPWD (NH), inspected the Old KMC Dumping site restoration work. The work is progressing rapidly, and we are optimistic about reopening the route to traffic very soon. With the monsoon receding and favorable weather conditions, we anticipate minimal disruptions to the project's timeline, a significant improvement over incessant rain challenges.

Held meeting with Executive Director (P) RO-Kohima @nhidcl along with Hon’ble MLAs Sh.A Nyamnyei Konyak and Sh.Naiba Konyak, to discuss and resolve the alignment option of NH-702 Longleng-Longching-Mon-Tizit. While the NHIDCL opted for Option-3, the local MLAs brought to light that a total of approx. 35 KMs of the existing Highway would be left unattended and many villages deprived, therefore suggested that Option-1, which follows the existing Highway alignment, be considered for the sake of the people of the area. A committee consisting of Officers from W&H Dept, CE NPWD(NH), NHIDCL and DPR Consultant will visit the area and submit report before finalisation of the alignment Option.
