Convened a meeting at Capital Convention Centre today to discuss upgrading and constructing Foothill Road to National Highway and the implications of adopting the NH Act, 1956.
Representatives of 16 tribal bodies, Hon’ble Elected Members, DCs, and NPWD officials participated. While the Centre has expressed willingness to construct and maintain the road, the requirement of 30m RoW free of cost was viewed as not feasible. A 15m RoW has been proposed, subject to consultations with affected villages within 15 days.
Concerns were also raised regarding adoption of the NH Act vis-à-vis Article 371(A). The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to continue consultations and move forward in the larger interest of the State’s development.
