Not that I care about these Ranjit-loving Punjabis but Sikh rulers themselves always referred to their kingdom as Khalsa Raj, meaning the rule of the Khalsa or sikhs. The state was called Khalsa Raj or Sarkar-i-Khalsa, not "Punjab Raj." Coins were issued in the names of the Sikh Gurus rather than the rulers themselves. The Sikh rulers used Sikh religious and political concepts to justify its authority and the ruling elite and court ceremonies incorporated Sikh traditions and symbols.
It was a Sikh kingdom in everyway. which is why several Sikh religious laws and practices were promoted despite the kingdom having a Muslim majority population. To this day, Sikhs generally remember and refer to it as the Sikh Empire or Khalsa Raj not a Punjabi kingdom , sometimes they use Punjabi kingdom but they refer it to Indian side Punjab which is Sikh majority. But I also understand that why pakjabi nationalists want to own it cause they need something against pashtun but they will be disappointed with it too once they read detailed about Durrani and Sikh empire which I will explain in any other day.
What's wrong with accepting Ranjit Singh? Wasn't he born in Gujranwala, present-day Pakistan? Didn't he conquer Afghanistan and free Punjab from Afghan robbers?
Should we just dismiss him because he was Sikh?
If we do, then what's the difference between Indians and us?
They ignore Muslim rulers, and if we do the same with Sikhs, we'll become just as bigoted as Indians.
We shouldn't be this intellectually dishonest.
