Long-leavedBox (Eucalyptus goniocalyx) in flower at Sanstrom Reserve in Victoria! Each autumn, these creamy white blossoms begin appearing across central Victoria, providing an important food source for native wildlife including Musk Lorikeets, Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters, Red Wattlebirds, and Grey-headed Flying-foxes. Sanstrom Reserve may be one of our smaller properties, but it plays a big role linking J.C. Griffin Reserve and the John Douglas blocks, helping native species move, forage and thrive across the landscape.

On #YoungTurksReloaded, ecologist and rewilding expert Vijay Dhasmana reflects on the transformation of the Aravalli Biodiversity Park, built through patience, science, and learning.
Dhasmana recalls the painstaking process: “Native species had to be identified, seeds were collected from jungles, grown in nurseries, stabilised, and only then planted across 380 acres of land.”

Native to the lush, tropical Konkan region of Maharashtra, India, Corynandra elegans, commonly known as the elegant spider-flower, thrives in warm, humid climates with well-drained soils.
This species flourishes in open
sunny habitats, often found along forest edges or disturbed areas.
Cultivation requires mimicking
its natural conditions, sandy loam soil, moderate watering, and full sun exposure.
Propagation is typically
through seeds, sown in spring for optimal germination. Its resilience makes it a striking addition to tropical gardens or as an ornamental in regions with similar climates.

Corynandra elegans belongs to the Cleomaceae family, characterized by its herbaceous annual or perennial growth habit, reaching heights of 0.5–1.5 meters.
The plant features alternate
