We’ve rolled out optimizations for NeetoCI by introducing a new block architecture system that significantly reduces the time taken by CI tests across all Neeto apps. The CI run for @NeetoCal and @NeetoForm used to take around 18–20 minutes. That has now been reduced to 5–7 minutes. 21 years is a longggg time. Kudos to the whole team. I'm happy that I played a small role with some of my contrubtions back in the days. contributors.rubyonrails.org… Saying @rails changed my life would be an understatement. For the last 14 years it's been a blast running @BigBinary one of the few consulting companies which works only on Ruby on Rails projects. For the last 4 years we have been building @NeetoHQ using Ruby on Rails. As of today 39 people in Neeto are supporting 15 products. While my strategy of working on 15 products simultaneously could be controversial what's not controversial is this would not have been possible without Ruby on Rails. On an average only two people work on a product. Yes two people on a product. Not a feature but the whole product. @NeetoCal has two people. @NeetoForm has two people. @NeetoRecord has two people. Smart people say tools don't matter. Languages don't matter that much. I worked on Java for 8 years and then I worked on Rails. So I don't have enough personal experience to say if there is any substitute for Ruby on Rails. What I can say is that Ruby on Rails gets things done. Infact the frameworks helps you in not doing much engineering. That's a good thing. Do you want to send that email fast or do you want to much around with the right configuration for the background job. Smart people working at Rails have put sensible defaults. Deviate if you must but with the defaults you can also go a long distance. If you have been on the fence then it's the best time to jump in and try out Rails.
