The sports stadium built with China’s help made the Cape Verde people’s World Cup dream come true!
Cape Verde won the crucial match that got them into the World Cup at Praia National Stadium, which China helped build.
The stadium was officially handed over to Cape Verde in 2013. It covers 94,000 square meters and holds up to 15,000 people. Before this stadium, Cape Verde had no sports facilities that met international standards after gaining independence.
José Maria Neves, who was Prime Minister of Cape Verde back then, said with deep feeling:
“This dream came true thanks to China.”
“Praia National Stadium is one of the biggest construction projects our country has had since independence.”
