This week, I had the chance to join fellow ACAT Africa delegates on a trip from Kigali Convention Centre to the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) in Bugesera.
The visit aimed to explore some of the latest innovations in agriculture — from food processing and crop production to conservation agriculture, animal husbandry, and mechanized farming.
Basically, a buffet of farming brilliance.
Before kicking off the tour, we had lunch — a necessary refuel before diving into the day’s discoveries.
Let’s face it: no one wants to talk soil science on an empty stomach.
RICA holds a special place in my heart. I spent four transformative years there from 2019 to 2023.
Coming back felt like a full-circle moment.
The campus, the environment, the energy — all brought back powerful memories of learning, growth, and purpose.
I took some pictures at the Howard G. Buffett Campus Center — the place where my journey in agriculture truly began.
It’s more than just a building; it’s where I learned, practiced, and dreamed.
(Also, the lighting? Perfect for photos.)
Throughout the day, we witnessed impressive technologies and real-time innovations shaping the future of agriculture.
In a few minutes, I’m going to share what we’ve learned — and trust me, it’s worth your attention.
Stay tuned.
