8th June 1536: Ten Articles of Religion are published by the English clergy in support of Henry VIII's Declaration of Supremacy. Serving as a brief statement of the beliefs and practices of the Anglican Church, these were the first articles established since the separation from Roman Catholicism as the church began outlining its doctrinal distinctives following its break with Rome.
8th June 1998: Nigeria's Head of State, General Sani Abacha, dies. This occurred shortly after Bishop David Oyedepo had led a prophetic prayer based on Ezekiel 11:1-13 in March 1998 at Winners' Chapel, 28 Raji Oba, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos. The prayer, titled "...and Pelatiah died...", was raised against the military junta. Just over 2 months later, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced the afternoon passing of the Head of State, who was on the verge of becoming the life President of Nigeria.
8th June 1989: Bishop Dag Heward-Mills and Lady Adelaide Heward-Mills hold their official, legal marriage ceremony and sign their marriage certificates at Trinity Theological College in Accra, Ghana. Their main church marriage service and reception followed on 14th June 1989). He is the founder and Presiding Bishop of the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UD-OLGC, formerly Lighthouse Chapel International).
8th June 1878: Evan Roberts is born. Evan John Roberts was a Welsh evangelist and a leading figure of the remarkable 1904–1905 Welsh Revival.
8th June 2023: Dr. Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson goes to be with the Lord at the age of 93. He was the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and the long-time television host of "The 700 Club', a position he held until his retirement in 2021.
