Hi @AndyUpperton, you’re spot on :) With CIS baselines like the one you’ve configured, setting them up with GPOs can take time. OSConfig’s pre-defined baselines? Done in seconds, which is a huge time-saver. (if you didn't set them up already) As for drift control, it’s tied to a configurable schedule, just like GPO background refresh. The difference? OSConfig focuses on desired state enforcement. Instead of the server constantly checking in, the client/server can reapply settings independently, keeping things tightly aligned. With Microsoft nudging away from traditional GPOs (especially for workgroup or standalone servers), OSConfig feels like their way to bridge the gap. It is not a GPO replacement yet, but it is definitely worth a look for future-proofing your setup

If anything, it seems that OSconfig was created because maybe the DSC fate was too questionable and needed to ship something. Wish there was an update instead of customers being left in the dark
