It is cold out there! The word of the week is calduccio. The expression “stare al calduccio” means to stay in and warm. So this is the perfect expression for the week. State al calduccio! #wordoftheweek#ouitalian#ouspeaksitalian
Who wouldn’t want to intern in Italy this summer? Please consider applying for this amazing opportunity to teach English over the summer in Italy. The deadline is January 28, 2024! #ouitalian#ouspeaksitalian
"Where will your sentiero take you next?" . . . Perhaps to the Special Research Collections @OU_Libraries to view La Divina commedia di Dante Alighieri (1757-1758) or other #RareBooks?

Do you know what’s the best way to start a new week? It’s starting it with a cup of Italian coffee and a pastry on the side. We are look forward to seeing you on Monday and Tuesday. Stop by and support the Baccano Italian Club! #ouitalian#ouspeaksitalian
This coming week we will kick off the Baccano Italian Club season with a potluck picnic at Lions Park. We can’t wait to see you on September 20 at 5pm! #ouitalian#ouspeaksitalian
Thank you all for coming to our internship in Italy interest meeting this afternoon! If you missed it, make sure to contact sdalpont@ou.edu with any questions. #ouitalian#learnitalian#speakitalian#oua#ouinarezzo
Interested in a paid Summer internship in Italy? This amazing opportunity is open to all students of Italian. Come learn more about it on Feb 28 at 5pm in Kaufman Hall 221B! #ouitalian#oua#ouinarezzo
[Word of the week] BUGIA: lie, falsehood. The pronunciation of this word might be a little unexpected: the stress goes on the “i”! From this word comes “bugiardo/a,” which means “liar.” #ouitalian#speakitalian#learnitalian#italiano
AMPOLLOSO: bombastic. This adjective comes from the Latin “ampullosus” (from “ampulla,” a round-bottom flask), which was used to describe inflated writing or speaking style. “Un discorso ampolloso” is a high-sounding discourse that, however, bears little meaning. #ouitalian
Study Abroad Centers Week is coming up (September 12-16)! Come learn about study-abroad requirements, hear from program alumni and sample some #Italian and #Mexican food delicacies! #ouitalian#ouinarezzo
[Word of the week] PARLANTINA: talkativeness; the gift of the gab. This word derives from the verb “parlare” (“to speak”) and indicates the ability to talk glibly. A person with “la parlantina” is someone who has a way with words. #ouitalian#speakitalian#learnitalian#italiano
Congratulations are in order for OU students Taylor B. Cozzens, Liliana Ruiz Macias, Elizabeth Smith, and OU alumna Katherine Stroh on receiving Fulbright U.S. Student awards for the 2022-2023 academic year.
