If the Howe Awards voting just started today, if we still don't know how things will develop, if we can vote for free, and if you're already taking the time to log into LINE and cast a vote in one category, then why not vote in the others as well?
Why are some people already encouraging others not to vote for Faye because her category seems too difficult?
I keep seeing the same thing happen with Faye. The idea that because she has already won awards, because she is already recognized, because she is established, or because she is nominated in other categories, she somehow doesn't need our support anymore.
I don't see it that way.
I could never leave Faye behind. If I'm voting, she will always be my priority. And then I'll vote in the other categories too, because if the votes are free, why should I have to choose only one?
I want Faye to win. I want her individual work in BOL to be recognized. It was a role that pushed her out of her comfort zone, required physical preparation, was emotionally demanding, and showed sides of her that we had never seen before. It was a complex character, and she delivered an outstanding performance.
I don't care if the category is difficult. I don't care if she has won awards before. None of those reasons will ever make me stop supporting her.
As for paid votes, I completely understand that donation campaigns need to prioritize categories and make strategic decisions. But as individuals, we can decide who we want to support.
Personally, I will try to contribute to donation campaigns, but I will also vote directly for Faye. One vote costs less than a dollar.
The voting has only just begun. Nobody knows what might happen in the coming weeks. But what I do know is that I will never stop voting for her before the competition has even had a chance to begin.
If we are her fandom, then we should be fighting for her too.
