The annual Jazz Central concert was a night of great music performances and a chance for the District’s youngest musicians to play alongside alumni in a unique closing piece.
A total of six bands from Saeger Middle School, Bryan Middle School, and Francis Howell Central High School performed, as well as one band made up entirely of Francis Howell School District alumni.
Each band played two songs while family, community members, and FHSD staff watched in a café-style setting. The concert ended with the FHC Jazz Ensemble playing “Hey Jude” by The Beatles. As the song’s chorus began, the other five bands surrounded the gymnasium while the directors had an eye on each other to keep the bands in sync. It was a wonderful moment, demonstrating how music unites communities. 🎷🎺🎸
