L/B ratio decides everything!

📐🧱 One way or two way slab - one simple number determines how your entire floor system is designed and reinforced.
.
Hey @grok, which slab type is more economical for residential construction? 🤔🏗️

#OneWaySlab#TwoWaySlab#StructuralEngineering
The bending behavior of one-way and two-way slabs, highlighting how they distribute loads and resist bending forces.
•
One-Way Slab: Bends in one direction only, with main reinforcement placed along the shorter span where bending occurs.
•
Two-Way Slab: Bends in both directions, distributing loads more efficiently, requiring reinforcement in both spans.
•
Why It Matters? Understanding slab bending is crucial for structural safety, efficient reinforcement placement, and load distribution in buildings.
•
Mastering these principles helps in designing cost-effective and structurally sound buildings.

COLUMN LOAD TAKEDOWN OF A 3D SIMPLE STEEL FRAME (One-Way Slab Distribution)
In this post, we will seek to find the slab load distribution to the beams and also the load takedown in each column (Note the self-weight of the beam/walls and columns were ignored and the beams are pinned connected(no moment)). This procedure can help with beam design calculations and load takedown.
The floor load (in kN/m²) of a one-way slab is usually transferred to the beams on the long span of the slab panel, each sharing half the slab load based on the tributary width (the short span). The load path (red arrows) shows the direction of the load transfer.
The tributary width of the slab for the beam is multiplied by the slab load to get the beam load (in kN/m) and gives us the load at each column end. The hand calculation results are then compared with results from #AutodeskRobot results.
There we go! Same result by hand calculations and software.
