At this point, with the many unmet safety and learning needs in #OntEd, I would gladly accept the three Educational Assistants that one officer’s salary would cover. Students are sent home every day in Ontario because of a lack of support to ensure their safety. This is not okay.

For sure. At the end of the day, the vast majority of issues currently in #onted are caused by lack of funding. Adding police only works because Ford is willing to give money to police and NOT education's staff. That same money in OUR budget would be equally as effective.

So deal with "not getting proper funding" But it's okay for police to get massive funding increases? This is the mindset that has led us to this problem Everyone demands #onted "do more with less" but for police we just throw money at them bc we know that $ and support help

No. You have a very narrow minded view of #onted and, for some reason, have put police on a high horse. I'm not trying to be negative about the policing profession, I'm just saying they aren't needed in a school 24/7 when other options can work better.

Literally everything you have said, in multiple replies, can be done by actual #onted staff. If we had proper funding. What "intervention" can police do that you keep highliting , that is ONLY something they can provide. Police get paid 2 to 3x what an ECE or EA does.

Educators - Just because that autistic student in class is quiet & doesn't make a fuss, it does not mean they're not struggling They're masking & when they get home, they meltdown Rinse & repeat It's exhausting & unsustainable #OntEd #autism
