The shortlist of finalists for the Open Education Global (OEGlobal) Awards 2025 is out, and we’re delighted to share that COL and its team has been recognised for their contributions.
Congratulations to COL’s Anne-Marie Scott and Sanjaya Mishra, both nominated in the Individual Awards Leader category. In addition, COL was nominated for Open online courses for the Pacific Partnership for Open, Distance, and Flexible Learning, which contributed to a series of OER online courses. Guided by Tony Mays, Director: Education at COL, these courses were created to build capacity in digital skills and open, distance, and flexible learning across the Pacific region in response to the educational challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anne-Marie Scott shares, "I am both delighted and humbled to be recognised by this nomination for an OEGlobal award. These awards are special because they are by and for the global open community, recognising all the different ways in which open educational approaches can take us towards greater equity, inclusion, and a more socially-just world."
Sanjaya Mishra added, “It feels good to be on the shortlist of OE Global Awards. This is a recognition for our work at the Commonwealth of Learning, which provides opportunity to advocate and support spreading of open education around the Commonwealth and globally.”
The annual Open Education Awards for Excellence recognizes outstanding contributions in the Open Education community, recognizing exemplary Individuals, distinctive Open Educational Resources, and innovative Open Practices from around the world.
There were 193 nominations of open excellence this year, from which the short list of 48 have been drawn. Twenty-three of the nominations are from Commonwealth countries, with strong showings for UK, Canada, and Australia. The final awards will be announced in a live webcast on 17 October 2025.
