Open source has given me a lot.
I’ve contributed to orgs like Oppia, AnkiDroid, OpenMainframe, and Zowe over period of 3 years --
and even got to serve as a maintainer at Oppia after my GSoC ‘23 project.
It later led to a paid contract as well.
For anyone stuck in the loop of: “need experience to get a job, need a job to get experience" -- open source is a great way to break it.
You get to work on real production systems,
learn a lot, and grow at your own pace.
Make the most of it. Feel free to comment or DM if you need any guidance, happy to help 😀
