“Leather Lady in the Red Foyer”
The opera foyer hums with conversation, rustling gowns and black tie formality.
And then she appears.
Instead of a traditional evening gown, she wears a perfectly tailored leather dress, a sweeping leather coat and gloves, with only a string of pearls as a nod to convention.
No dramatic pose, no need to demand attention — and yet, slowly, the room begins to turn its head.
Some might think leather doesn’t “belong” at the opera.
But I see a woman who knows exactly what she wants to wear and will not surrender it, not even to the strictest dress code.
A woman who can fuse the discipline of evening etiquette with a personal passion for leather — and quietly turn the foyer into her own stage.
Perhaps she’ll leave the coat at the cloakroom in a moment.
But the impression she made on arrival will linger far longer than the final aria.
