Outgoing South Korean Ambassador Bids Farewell to Gen Kainerugaba The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba held a farewell meeting with the outgoing Ambassador of South Korea to Uganda, H.E. Park Sung-Soo, at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe. The ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Heejo Choi, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Mr. Jaehoon Choi, Senior Researcher at the South Korean embassy in Uganda. The meeting was also attended by the UPDF Chief of Joint Staff, Lt Gen Jack Bakasumba, and Uganda Human Rights Commissioner, Mr. crispin Kaheru. The meeting, described by General Kainerugaba as a recognition of a friendship that has become much closer, warmer, and more practical, celebrated the growing military and diplomatic cooperation between the two nations. General Kainerugaba recalled his previous encounter with the ambassador in September 2023, noting how much had been achieved since. The CDF expressed gratitude for South Korea’s collaboration with Uganda in several fields including defence, health, infrastructure development, among others.

In particular, General Kainerugaba thanked Ambassador Park for his hands-on role as a “true bridge-builder,” adding that the defence agreements and South Korea’s growing support for Uganda’s security infrastructure were direct results of the ambassador’s work.

In his farewell remarks, Ambassador Park Sung-Soo, who has served in Uganda for four and a half years, thanked President Yoweri Museveni for his leadership and for maintaining peace and stability in Uganda and the wider region. #PLUUpdate

Yesterday CDF Chaired Joint Staff Committee to Review National Security; The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba , chaired a high-level meeting of the Joint Staff Committee on Tuesday to assess Uganda’s security posture and regional military footprint. Held at the Special Forces Command headquarters, the session convened the military’s top leadership, including the Deputy CDF, Service Chiefs, Chief of Joint Staff, Division Commanders, Chiefs of Staff, Commanders of independent units and  members of the Joint Staff. The committee reviewed the operational progress of Ugandan troops deployed in key regional missions including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea.   This regular forum serves as a vital vehicle for aligning national defense strategies and maintaining regional stability. #PLUUpdate
