The Suffolk poet Edward Fitzgerald died #OTD 14 June 1883. He's best known today for his translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The Fitzgerald family mausoleum is in Boulge churchyard, but the poet had asked not to be buried in it. His is the long low grave marker beyond it. 1/2

Complete waanzin vannacht in Wijk bij Duurstede. Relschoppers vernielen het gemeentehuis en gooien met stenen en zwaar vuurwerk naar de politie.
Dit gedrag pikken we niet in Nederland, want zo lossen we verschillen hier niet op. Wie politiek geweld en intimidatie gebruikt, moet keihard worden aangepakt. Alle steun voor bestuurders, medewerkers en hulpverleners.
