I had a something abnormal in my throat. It needed to be removed and sent for testing. A regular doctor, or ENT, wouldnโt do the procedure because it was deemed dental. So I went to an oral surgeon, and it took them about 25 minutes to do the procedure. The oral surgeon billed my dental insurance, but the dental insurance company felt my procedure was medical and not dental, even though it was coded dental. When I called my medical insurance they said they wouldnโt pay unless it was coded medical and not dental. So, $600 out of pocket later, I found out it was nothing.
Fix that problem before tax payers start paying for elective surgery.
