Hey everyone, I wanted to share a massive workflow lifesaver I recently found called Pixelover(pixelover.io/). I’m much more of a programmer than an artist, so making good-looking art at an acceptable speed has always been a huge struggle for me. I know my way around the 3D asset creation pipeline, but it just takes too long. Low-poly isn't really my style, and my raw 2D drawing skills (both pixel and vector) are pretty terrible, as you can probably tell from the rest of the second screen. Yesterday, I started experimenting with turning 3D models into pixel art. At first, the results weren't bad(rusted heli picture) But the setup was a nightmare. The export pipeline was tedious, and handling materials was a headache. I started looking for ways to simplify my workflow and stumbled upon Pixelover. I downloaded the demo, tried it out, and immediately got this What do you guys think of the result? It might not look like absolute perfection, but it definitely gets the job done. I'm sure there are hand-crafted pixel art techniques that no tool can truly replicate, but this looks "right" to me. Plus, the tool allows you to draw directly onto the generated sprite for manual touch-ups. I'm currently using this exact workflow to build assets for my upcoming survival game. I started this project just as a curiosity back in the days of late 2024, I still have all my old devlogs. I am using Unreal Engine 5, visual studio, Aseprite, Blender, PixelOver, Ableton and others This project is entirely solo, ive been doing this alone for a very long time but just a couple days ago I got someone to help with some 3d modeling and for the demo a friend helped with drawing battle sprites that I later animated As of right now no I dont have a team, but currently I have one active helper
