I've been building codesurf, an IDE that is fully customisable as every component is a plugin / mcp capable module. There's a CLI version too where you can enable and disable extensions on the fly. Key thing with the IDE was the canvas -- you can run it in many layouts like VSCode, Codex, ChatGPT even an AI browser, and create your own. Then run these full screen or in a canvas. So wondering if I can bring over some concepts if that would be of interest -- and will also make CD compatible with your backend :)
