The annual creative extravaganza, the PolyU Design Show 2025, is now open. The Show features over 250 innovative solutions developed by undergraduate and master’s students. Among them are standout projects focusing on community care and sustainable development, embodying the students’ creativity and keen social observations to use design as a force for positive change in society:
🐾 Voices of the Voiceless — A Transitional Home for Stray Cats
Following in-depth research on the stray cat situation in Yau Ma Tei, a team of Social Design graduates has designed safe, convenient temporary shelters. These provide a secure haven for the cats while facilitating daily care by volunteers.
🍪 VEGO — The Ugly Produce Makeover
A team of master’s students upcycles imperfect fruits and vegetables into healthy cookies and transforms the inedible food waste into painting pigments, putting the concept of a zero-waste economy into practice.
💪"MotoRehab" — A New Experience in Elderly Rehabilitation
Created by a team of Innovative Multimedia Entertainment graduates, "MotoRehab" is a game-based rehabilitation system that helps seniors rebuild motor skills and strength for greater independence. It also tracks progress data to assist therapists in tailoring recovery plans.
The works at the PolyU Design Show 2025 cover a wide range of themes, including community, environmental, cultural, and business solutions. Come join us in person or explore the virtual exhibition on the website to witness the emergence of a new generation of local design talent.
