This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the powerhouse team who have kept Port Lockroy running this season: base leader Lisa, postmaster Rachel, museum manager Amanda, and wildlife monitor Alette.

Wildlife monitor @watsonthesummit has completed the final chick count of the season, which took place post-crèching – once the chicks have formed large groups (crèches) for protection, warmth and survival. The team counted 708 chicks! 🐧

An enormous welcome to postmaster George, and carpenters Jo and Dan, who have joined base leader Lisa, shop manager Tiago, wildlife monitor Pete, and postmaster Rachel at Port Lockroy for the second half of the season.

Welcome to the Port Lockroy gift shop!
The Port Lockroy gift shop is situated in what was originally the base’s generator shed. We still have a generator in there for visitors to see, along with various artefacts on display.

A festive morning with feathered friends! 🐧❤️
While most of us were unwrapping gifts, Port Lockroy wildlife monitor Pete spent his Christmas morning counting eggs and chicks at the chronology colony.
