It's a saddening change in this country, from a culture of trust to a culture that almost always makes trust regrettable.
Before driveout cheaters shattered trust, we'd pump in $2, $5, $10, or fill up, and then pay with the pocket money we knew we had to buy gas.
I resisted the change while there still were businesses that advertised "Pump first, then pay" until there were none.
Now, to avoid a 10¢/gallon surcharge for a credit card payment, you have to walk in, taking note of the pump number, and prepay with cash. If you want to fill up, you have to overestimate how much it will be. Then, after your tank is topped-off, you make a second trip in to collect your overpayment from the cashier.🙄
