MY SUGGESTION TO UPSC FOR CIVIL SERVICES EXAM This year there is reportedly a new type of preliminary exam questions and this has resulted in a lot of speculation on the cut-off mark for the current year. Many candidates reportedly are worried. Normally UPSC has been calling candidates for written exam numbering 12 to 13 times of the number of vacancies and reportedly last year about 14,500 candidates were selected for written exam . When prelim pattern was not in vogue , and everyone wrote the written exam. at the most 30,000 candidates wrote the written exam. And our system was geared to handle this volume. My suggestion for this year is -- in view of the perceived difficult questions set for prelim, UPSC should lower the cut off substantially and let about 30,000 candidates take the written exam . This might enable many bright candidates to appear in the written test and consequently we may get brighter officers for the civil service. Evaluating 30,000 candidates' performance is not a big issue but it could be more fair and broad based. I hope UPSC will consider this suggestion. @PMOIndia

June 13, 2026 Need for Organic Turmeric, Devotee Lodging, and Corridor for Jejur's Development: Dr. Neelam Gorhe The Temple Trust Should Consider Providing Free Organic Turmeric to Devotees Jejuri, June 13: Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Shiv Sena leader and MLA, stated that she has held several meetings in the Legislative Assembly for the progress and development of Jejuri Temple Trust and has made efforts to bring about social reforms without hurting religious sentiments. Today in Jejuri, Dr. Gorhe performed the formal worship of Shri Khandoba and took darshan. Just as Khandoba defeated evil forces, she prayed at the feet of Shri Khandoba that all citizens may receive protection from calamities and that public welfare works through the Mahayuti government may be completed more swiftly. On this occasion, Adv. Vishwas Panse, trustee of the Temple Trust, honored Dr. Gorhe by presenting her with a shawl, coconuts, and an idol of Khandoba. Additionally, on behalf of the Ghadshi community, she was also honored with a shawl and coconuts for the help provided to the Ghadshi community during the COVID period. Speaking to journalists on this occasion, Dr. Gorhe said that significant success has been achieved in abolishing the previously existing Murli practice in Jejuri. We have worked with the perspective that social reforms can be carried out while respecting religion and traditions. It is often said that progress cannot happen without abandoning religion; however, societal progress can be achieved by making appropriate reforms within religion. She expressed satisfaction over the cooperation received from all sections of society for this. She also expressed concern about the turmeric used in the community feasts in Jejuri. She suggested that the Temple Trust should take the initiative to increase the use of organic turmeric and consider whether free organic turmeric can be made available to devotees. She also stated that efforts can be made to provide pure turmeric through the state government's Organic Turmeric Research Center. Chemical and adulterated turmeric is affecting the skin and eye health of devotees, and it is also damaging the temple's historic stone structure. Therefore, she emphasized the need for the use of pure and organic turmeric. For this purpose, she personally donated Rs 21,000 to Shri Martanda Dev Sansthan in the form of a cheque. Stating that the state government is committed to resolving the issue of the Temple Trust's land, Dr. Gorhe expressed confidence that Jejuri's development will gain more momentum. There is a need to construct a modern devotee lodging facility for the lakhs of devotees who visit Jejuri, and for this, local citizens and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) should jointly take the initiative, she said. She noted the need to develop a corridor in Jejuri, on the lines of Varanasi, to promote religious tourism. However, she clarified that the participation and trust of local citizens are important in such development works. ------ @neelamgorhe @mieknathshinde @Dev_Fadnavis @DrSEShinde @SunetraA_Pawar @htTweets @vinivdvc @ANI @ians_india @PTI_News @uniindianews @DDNewslive @printmag
