Voyager 1 has been out there for 48 years — a tiny piece of 1970s tech, drifting 15 billion miles from Earth, still calling home. No weapons. No borders. Just a message in a bottle to the universe, built by people who believed in science, unity, and the impossible. By 2026, it’ll be one full light-day away — so far even light takes 24 hours to reach it. While some build walls and prisons, this little craft reminds us what happens when humanity builds together instead of tearing each other down. We can still choose that path. We were made for the stars. 🌍✨ --- #Voyager1 #HumanSpirit #WeChooseToBuild #ScienceUnites #AimForTheStars #GoldenRecord #NASA #HopeInTheDark #ProgressNotPrisons #InterstellarDreams #MadeForTheStars

Do not fall for attempts by right wing politicians who claim their "tough on crime" policies lead to safety. It's simply not true. What leads to safety is community investment, early intervention, drug rehabilitation, and housing access. @safeandjust #ProgressNotPrisons

We need more folks with platforms to help us shift the culture of how the public views community safety. People over punishment. #progressnotprisons Thank you @johnlegend
How can we enhance public safety? I broke it down with @nowthisnews and shared some strategies that states across our country are implementing to change our worldview on policing, crime, and incarceration.

It's time to invest in people and programs that promote community healing; rather than in institutions designed to strip people of their humanity and connection with society. #ProgressNotPrisons #WeCanDoBetter

The answer here is not a return to more policing and prisons-first policies. We know that doesn't work. To truly build safer communities, we must invest directly in community-based solutions, by and for the people most impacted. #WeAreSurvivors #ProgressNotPrisons
Regarding recent violent crime statistics, @MzTashante says it best: "The communities that were hit worst were the communities that were underserved in the first place ... This was a public health and safety system failure." theguardian.com/us-news/2021…

California's prison population is smaller than ever, yet state prison spending continues to increase. Our communities can't afford this continued misprioritization of funding. We need #ProgressNotPrisons! sacbee.com/news/politics-gov…

If anyone can think of a good reason for a state to have a $50 Billion prison budget but spend only 1% of that on victim services, I’d love to hear it. #ProgressNotPrisons

👉🏽FACT: Nearly 1 in 4 Californians living with a past criminal conviction report difficulty finding housing. Many wind up unsheltered. Over-investment in incarceration and under-investment in our communities harms us ALL. #ProgressNotPrisons
You know this one! Just 1% of California's $50 billion criminal justice system could provide shelter for 50,000 homeless or unhoused people. #ProgressNotPrisons

Great to hear about proposed increased allocated funding for California's schools and higher education! We already spend more than $50 billion a year on our criminal justice system. Investments in education are crucial for real public safety. #CAbudget #ProgressNotPrisons

California's prison spending is out of control. Prison populations are declining, and the state could save a BILLION DOLLARS by shuttering just 8 facilities. Imagine what that money could do reinvested in our communities. #ProgressNotPrisons mercurynews.com/2020/11/20/c…

Sentence enhancements are the racist tools of mass incarceration. 80% of incarcerated people in CA have had a sentence enhancement. We need to #ChangeTheCode & retroactively repeal all sentencing enhancements currently being served. #CareNotCages #ProgressNotPrisons
