📚This #NationalHigherEducationDay we want to highlight AJL’s first intern @rajiinio ! We admire Deborah’s commitment to making higher education accessible to all. As the founder of @projectinclude, she works to improve access to engineering education in low income and immigrant communities in the Greater Toronto Area. She’s also a @mozilla fellow, and PhD candidate in Computer Science at @UCBerkeley. Her advocacy for AI accountability spans work with AJL and the @AINowInstitute. Already recognized as an innovator to watch by @Forbes, @MIT Tech Review, and @TIME – we can't wait to see what incredible things she does next! 👏 If you're not already following her, make sure you do!

Elon Musk has apologized after publicly mocking Haraldur Thorleifsso a Twitter employee with a disability who didn’t know if he had been laid off by Twitter. In 2021, I worked with @projectinclude to report on the state of disabled workers in tech 👉🏾 bit.ly/3YyXu51 1

Research has been done already. For example @FwdDoc have a great resource pack(s) and yes it’s all written by #disabled people with insights from relevant laws and legislations. Please share > fwd-doc.org/toolkit . Also see fwd-doc.org/engagement-pack 1in4coalition.org/about/

Wow, Adam, @ProjectInclude is a truly awesome org for me to know about, but I was more looking, for this particular piece, for technical solutions, that can even be small. Examples: nudges built into Drupal or masking metadata during first review of PR in GitHub. Thanks!

👩🏽‍💻@ekp 🏢 @projectinclude 💰$5M Why? Because she stood up for what is right. For over a decade she’s fought to make working at tech companies much better for women. She is an icon and it would be one of the highlights of my life if I ever got a chance to back her.

Research from @projectinclude shows that #remotework during the pandemic increased #harassment and hostility in the #tech industry towards Black, Asian, Indigenous, Latinx, women and non-binary people. See the research here: projectinclude.org/assets/pd… #workplace #Discrimination
