i have a very obvious bias as a friend to the band and somebody who put their album out, but pyre is/was a rare band that really lived and breathed what they spoke. their album stands as a document of that as loud, angry, and deafeningly proud of it as possible.

If only that were true. Sati - the ritual burning of widows on their husband's funeral pyre - is just the tip of the iceberg.
I'll admit India has done a good job of hiding who they are, helped by the obvious threats from Muslims and terrorism. Look closely and it's not pretty.
