What does "thick tissue" mean?
Pyxa images intact, 100 µm thick tissue sections. Instead of slicing through cells and performing reconstruction of serial sections, it's now possible to capture full cell volumes and intact tissue morphology.

@stellaromics launched Pyxa today, a new platform for native 3D spatial (>100um thick sections). @alpenglowbio comes to mind as another player in the space (up to 1cm thick I believe).
For all the other hot spatial platforms out there, they rely on reconstruction of 2D slices

Traditional spatial profiling uses 5-10 µm sections, but Stellaromics' newly launched Pyxa platform can profile 1,000 genes in a fully intact mouse brain (in a 2024 preprint).
