Si è tenuta ieri sera a Roma la seconda edizione del vertice che unisce Islam, Cristianesimo ed Ebraismo: "Il Tavolo Iftar di Ramadan 2026". L’evento è stato promosso dalle Ambasciate dell’Azerbaigian e del Marocco presso la Santa Sede, con il sostegno della Direzione dei Musulmani del Caucaso e l’organizzazione del Media International Communication Club. Presente per l’occasione il Gran Muftì del Caucaso Allahshukur Pashazade, giunto per l’occasione dall’Azerbaigian insieme ai rappresentanti di varie religioni presenti nel Paese. A presenziare all’evento anche il Cardinale Pietro Parolin, e il Rabbino capo di Roma Riccardo Di Segni. Il Segretario di Stato Vaticano, S.E. il Cardinale Pietro Parolin, ha sottolineato come la convivialità sia uno strumento politico di pace: "Sedersi a questo tavolo non è un semplice gesto di cortesia, ma un atto di resistenza spirituale alla violenza", ha dichiarato il Cardinale. Il Gran Mufti del Caucaso ha portato una testimonianza di pace: "Il digiuno ci insegna la disciplina del cuore e l'empatia verso chi soffre", ha affermato. "Portiamo qui la voce dei popoli che desiderano la fine delle ostilità. Questo incontro dimostra che quando le fedi dialogano, i muri cadono.“ Di Segni ha evidenziato la potenza dei simboli condivisi e ha applaudito all'iniziativa. "In una stagione di profonde tensioni, il valore della convivialità assume un significato profetico", ha osservato. L’Ambasciatore dell’Azerbaigian presso la Santa Sede, S.E. Ilgar Mukhtarov, prendendo la parola, ha sottolineato tra l’altro come “l'Azerbaigian è storicamente una terra in cui diverse religioni e nazionalità hanno convissuto in pace e armonia per secoli. Lo Zoroastrismo un tempo fiorì sul nostro suolo e in seguito il Cristianesimo prese forma nella tradizione albano-caucasica e, tra il VII e l'VIII secolo, l'Islam iniziò a diffondersi. Oggi, il popolo dell'Azerbaigian è orgoglioso di portare avanti questa tradizione.” Intervenuta alla serata anche l’Ambasciatrice del Marocco presso la Santa Sede, S.E.
