Interesting, given known hot spots didn't make it. I am meteo 461 instrumentation victim ( PSU course where we had to build and design instruments) Most thermometer errors back then have accelerating errors, the higher the temperature, as they are calibrated at 32F Unless there is meticulous upkeep more likely to read warm than cool. Do you know what class siting these are? For instance, when Coyle field hit 101 at 3:10, RTMA, which is pretty dang good had mid 90s. My dad actually proved ACY had the problem in July 1969. They. hit 106 and no one around them was above 95. So he brought 5 thermometers out on the runway ( he was in research) and found the thermometer had a runaway error as it got hotter. But really, that is odd. See the obs and the RTMA. I have never seen a 5-6 degree error on it, maybe a couple. Still this is more like a top 5 and will even be higher if it winds up being the hottest day of the summer ( dont laugh in 1976 it was in April) given the overall pattern this year Peace out
